For more than 20 years, our Detroit office has helped local clients re-imagine their neighborhoods and re-engineer their businesses. Gensler has created brands and identities, designed workplaces, converted outdated structures into new vibrant facilities, all while finding new ways to enhance the way people work and play. Notable Gensler projects and assignments in the Detroit metropolitan area include the new North Terminal for Wayne County’s Detroit Metropolitan Airport, facility rehabilitation framework for Detroit’s Eastern Market, workplace guidelines and interiors for General Motors Global Headquarters at Renaissance Center, Bodman’s relocation to Ford Field, WPP Group’s co-location in Dearborn, and the master plan and renovation of the Student Activities Building for The University of Michigan.
Our office is made up of 33 professionals. We employ more than 11 registered architects and 9 LEED-Accredited Professionals, all devoted to taking a sustainable approach to design, helping meet our clients’ needs today without preventing future generations from meeting their needs. Gensler designed the LEED-certified Detroit Lions Headquarters and Training Facility in Allen Park, which set new standards for the sustainable building innovation.
We pride ourselves on understanding our clients’ goals and aspirations. Gensler seeks out clients who demand exceptional levels of performance, because those who demand great work inspire us to achieve great design.
Hundreds of design awards recognize our ability to contribute to clients’ and communities’ needs through design. In its November 2005 issue, Interior Design magazine says of Gensler, “The world’s most powerful design firm is head and shoulders above the rest.” Three Gensler projects were recognized (two top honors and one finalist) in the prestigious 2002 Business Week / Architectural Record Awards for work that demonstrates the power of architectural design to meet strategic business goals. Gensler was ranked first on World Architecture’s survey of international interior design firms, and other industry publications consistently rank Gensler as the world’s leading architecture and interior design firms. Fast Company magazine calls Gensler “one of the world’s most influential design firms.”
