AIA Detroit and Cranbrook Art Museum are pleased to once again host ABC:D, a youth outreach program designed to teach Detroit students about design thinking and engage them in the planning process. Architecture Building Communities Detroit [ABC:D] is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and builds on the 2017 pilot program, which was supported by the AIA National Armstrong Foundation Education Grant.
This year’s program spans across the City of Detroit, working with students in three communities. In consultation with the City of Detroit Planning and Development Department, three neighborhoods were identified for the ABC:D project sites: Greater Corktown, Gratiot + 7 Mile, and East Warren / Cadieux.
