The Maker Mind: Digital Toolmaking with Computational Design
Join AIAD TAP Computational Design Detroit (co.de.D) as we host a lecture and forum discussion about how to leverage digital toolmaking in our day-to-day workflows. We will hear from local Computational Design experts as they describe how this new age of individualized, open-source toolkits empowers designers to work faster and smarter.
Continuing Education will be provided
1. Introduce Computational Design and its relevance to architecture
2. Discuss Grasshopper-based toolmaking and how it is a departure from traditional software. Overview of open source modules, examples, and tutorials. Discussion of the culture of individual agency required to take advantage of these resources.
3. Review of Computational BIM workflows and toolkits developed for real projects
4. Discussion of the risks and opportunities associated with Computational Design, led by computational designers from local firms.
