DESCRIPTION:
Blue Water Glass is a full-service façade contractor with in house engineering, architectural designers, 3D/2D detailing, manufacturing, installation and logistics with clients, partners and suppliers throughout the world. BWG, while specializing in glass also has carpenter’s, ironworkers, stone masons and glaziers within their installation team. Exquisite builds must have teams that can trust each other to achieve success. Rick looks forward to sharing his experiences in design build, manufacturing and installation, as well as promoting relationships within the industry.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

• Learn advantages in shop fabrication to provide higher quality and durability to provide longer life of the enclosure components.
• Understand design-build considerations for coordinating details, specifications, and construction sequencing for safe and reliable connections.
• Learn considerations for incorporating structural thermal breaks, including considering structural deflections.
• Discover design-build detailing development processes for coordinating water, thermal, and vapor management between shop and field constructed assemblies.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Richard J. Russel Jr. (Rick) has been involved in specialty construction and manufacturing for over 28 years, starting as a sculptor and metalsmith in 1992. He has numerous artistic public commissions throughout the pacific northwest and southeastern Michigan.

In 2016, Rick was able to join (BWG) Blue Water Glass of Port Huron, MI. Blue Water Glass is a full-service façade contractor with in-house engineering, architectural designers, 3D/2D detailing, manufacturing, installation and logistics with clients, partners and suppliers throughout the world. BWG headquarters holds over 100,000 sq ft of Modern manufacturing equipment, and craftsmen who specialize in building envelope and façade work for high end retail clients such as Chanel, Tiffany’s, Louis Vuitton, Apple and many others.

Rick promotes relationships within the industry as exquisite builds must have teams that can trust each other to achieve success.
