  The headquarters is well executetd in composition and site adaptation. By carefully eliminating obsolete and inefficient components, the team has not only created a plan that improves clarity, but also a skin that is visually stimulating.

  The Z: Mixed-Use Parking

  This project was recognized specifically for not trying to mask the fact that it is a parking garage. The beveled picture frames defy conventional garages and the integration of graphics and murals is an inventive wayfinding system.

  Grand Valley State University Library

  The Library addressed the challenge of its changing role in the urban realm by organizing the collaborative and learning spaces behind the transparent facade and moving the physical book storage to a compact back of house space. The illustrations convey the design intent clearly and the built edifice respects that intent.

  Brizola Restaurant

  The restaurant design meets varying degrees of opportunity, constraint, and budget with a strong vision. Using the menu of steak and fish as a design inspiration is unique and is thoughtfully translated to different aspects of the composition.

  The work place design was recognized as successfully creating a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. A multitude of iconic statements are made, but tastefully blend together. The flexibility of spaces to adapt to different activities is notably poetic and practical.

  The ambition of this project to respect the land is clearly indicated in its response to the site, the shifting planes of the different floors and the facade materials and textures. The arrival sequence augments the context even as the building purposefully disappears in its setting.
