The Biological Sciences Building (BSB) is a first of its kind facility integrating state-of-the-art science education with innovative research space and an interactive museum to engage the public and revolutionize life science research, discovery and communication. The unprecedented coupling of a major academic sciences program with a museum of natural history opens the life sciences to the public via the intertwining of the museum and the research space. The project vision was to bring science to life for the public by putting active science research on display and encouraging collegial interactions between scientists and visitors. The building design makes science more accessible, encouraging visitors, especially young students, to explore science in new ways. It is exciting to watch the interaction between students and researchers, then envision how this outreach will inspire the next-generation scientists.
