Cancer, in its many forms, is all too prevalent in today’s world. Everyone is at least aware of someone who has fought the disease; too many of us personally know individuals who have lost that battle. For my 27-year-old self, however, cancer always happened to “other people”. Young and healthy, with little history of cancer in my immediate family, there were numerous other health problems that ranked higher on my list of “Things to Worry About in the Future”. (more…)

Quinn Evans Architects, an award-winning planning and design practice, has added four new staff members in the firm’s Ann Arbor, Mich., office. Kristen Nyht, AIA, LEED AP, has been named a senior architect. Convention’s new name is A’17, the AIA Conference on Architecture. It’s still the architecture and design event of the year and will continue to embrace the people and topics that influence our work, careers, and communities. Early bird registration is now open through February 15.

AIA Detroit is excited to announce that Charlie Klecha, Assoc. Please Join AIA Detroit for our Annual Meeting on Thursday, November 17th, at 7:00PM. The meeting will be held at the Schoolcraft VisTaTech Center in Livonia.

We will discuss this past year’s activities and voting on a few small Bylaws changes (read about them here), as well as the AIA Detroit Board for 2017 (please take the time to read about this year’s candidates below).  We will also be hosting a discussion about the potential for raising dues next year through a special membership vote.
