Senior Technical Designer

As a Senior Technical Designer at Pophouse, you will be responsible for supporting a culture of technical excellence within the Interior Design practice. This individual will be involved in all technical aspects of the project lifecycle and provide oversight on all interiors project documentation, detailing, and coordination activities to ensure successful project delivery. The Senior Technical Designer, in partnership with design leadership, will support a culture of excellence through high-quality coordinated design documents, upholding Pophouse project quality and delivery standards, and demonstrating highly competent technical proficiency and risk management with minimal RFI’s, change orders, and claims. In addition, this role will facilitate creative and innovative interior architectural design solutions, manage the technical design process throughout the entire project lifecycle, mentor and coach the design team in all aspects of technical design, and develop and cultivate relationships with Clients, Consultants, Fabricators, AOR’s and Construction teams.

  • Manage client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination as it relates to technical design
  • Review all projects for compliance with Pophouse standards and quality assurance
  • Assure compliance with code, program, sustainability goals, and budget
  • Collaborate in development of technical standards and documentation within Interiors, Industrial, and Environmental Graphic Design disciplines
  • Facilitate Pophouse project goals of technical excellence in design, execution, and sustainability
  • Assist in implementation and development of Pophouse document and CAD standards for quality and productivity
  • Promote fiscal responsibility and performance in the technical development of projects
  • Lead the effort to enhance and embrace project delivery systems technology and innovation at the Interior Design practice level


  • Advanced knowledge of drawing design techniques, tools, and principles
  • Advanced knowledge of construction methodology, construction documents, materials, and manufacturers
  • Proficient task management and project management skills
  • Ability to provide critical technical design review, communicating design ideas and direction
  • Ability to work closely with Design Leadership across the firm to promote an inter-disciplinary design approach and philosophy and to facilitate its advancement across the team
  • Ability to work effectively with architectural partners, consultants, and fabricators
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients throughout the entire design process
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines and identify next steps
  • Ability to work effectively within project teams to solve problems, collaborate, and innovate within technical discipline
  • Ability to travel periodically


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited university, state architectural licensure preferred
  • 8+ years of related experience in a commercial design firm
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proficient in Sketchup, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in a variety of large scale and complex interior architecture projects
  • Advanced knowledge of material application, building codes, and building systems
  • Understanding of the relationship of building technology with client needs, consultant requirements and construction, throughout the entire project development process
  • Advanced knowledge of project design process, construction documentation, and construction materials
