The design for this new 100,000 gsf building was metaphorically an “inviting porch in the woods” and evolved around collaborative and group focused work inside and outside the building while also being shaped to fit gently within the topography of the site. By maximizing views to the wooded site, the design solution extends the workplace experience and blurs the boundary between the interior and exterior workspace. Tree-like wood columns, used in memory of the original forest from years ago, support a canopy that creates an inviting entrance. Anchored by a large community stair bisecting the three-story atrium, serendipitous conversations facilitating innovative solutions is now the norm. A balcony and patio at the entry are used for work and events; and link to the reception and grand work stair on the interior. Through storm management, lighting, and energy saving strategies the building achieved LEEDv3 Silver certification.
