Completed in early 2016, the adaptive reuse of a 4,350 sq.ft. Mechanical Suite interposes a design which weaves through the existing water supply and sanitary piping for the entire 45-story Randolph Tower, a luxury residential condominium located in the heart of downtown Chicago’s theater district. The suite, originally designated as ‘completely unleasable’ by the building landlord now thrives in an open collaborative setting, wrought with the experimentation of tectonics and materials. The reduction of public | private separation to its most essential condition permits the translation of the environment into a simple container for programmatic insertions including team meeting zones, an open office environment, conference rooms, a kitchen and four private offices.
